These guidelines apply to the community feed, messages, lost & found posts, public pages, listings and reviews across the Pat Pet Core Services. They form part of the terms of service.
1. Welcome here
Sharing everyday care, asking for help, celebrating milestones, offering lost-and-found help, and honest, respectful discussion about animal welfare.
2. Not allowed
- Animal cruelty or content that depicts, promotes or trivialises harm to animals, dog fighting, or illegal breeding practices.
- Unlawful sales or rehoming: advertising animals for sale or adoption without the details your state or country requires (for example breeder identification, microchip and source numbers), selling animals under 8 weeks old, or selling animals you do not own.
- Scams and fraud, including fake “found your pet” messages demanding money, phishing links, and fake gift codes.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech or discrimination against any person or group.
- Doxxing: publishing someone’s home address, phone number, workplace or other private information, including from a lost-pet post.
- Sexual content, graphic violence, or content that is illegal where you or we are located.
- Spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or commercial advertising outside listings.
- Impersonation of a person, clinic, rescue, breeder or Pat Pet Core staff.
- Medical misinformation presented as veterinary advice.
3. Lost & found rules
Post only about animals you own or have found. Share approximate locations, never exact home addresses. Never ask for or pay money to “release” a found animal; report anyone who does. Use the in-app relay rather than posting phone numbers.
4. Age
Community, messaging and public posting are available to people aged 16 and over. We may ask you to confirm your age. Accounts found to be under 16 have social features disabled.
5. Reporting and blocking
Every post, message, listing and profile has a Report option, and you can Block any account from its profile. Blocking hides their content and stops their messages immediately. Reports are confidential.
You can also email report@patpetcore.com with a link or screenshot. For urgent risk to a person, contact your local emergency services first.
6. What happens after a report
- We acknowledge reports within 24 hours and aim to decide within 48 hours; content that clearly breaks the rules or the law is removed sooner.
- Possible actions, in increasing order: remove content; warning; temporary restriction of posting or messaging; suspension; permanent ban and removal of listings. Serious cases (cruelty, scams, threats) skip straight to suspension and may be referred to authorities.
- We keep a record of reports and actions, and publish aggregate moderation numbers every six months, consistent with the Basic Online Safety Expectations under the Online Safety Act 2021 (Australia) and our obligations under the UK Online Safety Act 2023.
- Removal notices from the eSafety Commissioner or equivalent regulators are actioned within the time they specify, normally 24 hours.
7. Appeals
If we act on your content or account, we tell you why. You can appeal by replying to that notice or emailing appeals@patpetcore.com within 30 days. A different team member reviews appeals and responds within 14 days.
8. Changes
We update these guidelines as the community grows and the law changes; material changes are announced in the app.
